You Can Never Go Back

I know this world is always in change
Nothing is static nothing stays the same
Our memories are colored by how we perceive
The world around us just reflects what we believe

You can never go back to where you're from
Might as well keep on moving forward along that road you're on
Cause you can never go back to where you've been
That space and time is long since gone under your skin

We sing the song we call our own
Dance the steps that we've been shown
Moving through the changes we reflect
We tell ourselves that we have grown
When compared to all the stones
Left along the pathway with respect

The clock it keeps on ticking
Moving forward with the time
If you're living in the past
You're just lost inside your mind

We all have our memories tucked away inside
Of how this world used to be
Comedies and tragedies for better and for worse
And how we managed to survive
