Story of My Life

Climbed up the ladder of corporate success
Wound up in a financial mess
From trying to keep up with the Jones's, I guess

Never saved a dollar or even a dime
Never seemed to have any free time
Threw it all away on instant gratification

One day while I was sleeping
The message hit head on
Never get out of this situation
Driving that road I was on
I'd never find any kind of peace of mind
Doing the same old thing
Spending every day
Working my life away

So I jumped off the ladder of corporate success
Thinking that I'd found what I knew best
And I didn't even have to dress in a suit and tie

Saved every penny that I could
Quit using my money as firewood
Looked in the mirror and found the good inside

I was awake, no longer dreaming
Thinking bout my kids, my grandson and my wife
Spend my days exercising my freedoms
Writing another chapter in the story of my life

Making this life of mine turn out my way :)

Path of least resistance Dance on down the road
Making my choices count Loving what I'm doin
Plant my garden in the spring Beachcombing in the summer
Canoeing in the fall Writing songs all winter long
Got so far to go . . .
