LONESOME ROAD

Hard rain falling on this broken down car
I'd try to walk but I wouldn't get far
50 mile gusts, 28 degrees

Middle of the night how could I have known
there wouldn't be anybody at home
and a storm like this would strike so suddenly
and the only one on this lonesome road is me

at least there will be some light

Frightened awake by a branch on the hood
try to stay calm but it doesn't look good
and the window pane lies shattered at my feet
