BRIGHTEN YOUR WAY

Down by the sea there's marks on the wall
sandstone and the tides rise and fall
It changes each year from the sun and the storms
like an old man whose face is weather worn

and it drives home the point of how time slips away
and the moments just turn into years
Like a hammer on thumb, I'm feeling the numb
and afraid to let go of the tears

When out of nowhere an image appears
in the foam as the waves fall away
and it's familiar and true like that picture of you
I still use to brighten my way

Alone in the night with an eye on the stars
and thoughts spinning round in my mind
and the man in the moon is snickering I swear
as I search the night sky for a sign

That I'm on the right road to my original home
one flash in the lightening of love
Universe bound with my feet on the ground
and my heart in the Heavens' above

When out of nowhere an image appears
in the clouds as they pass the moon's way
and it's familiar and true like that picture of you
I still use to brighten my way

And I carry these moments so true
wherever I go, whatever I do
and I vow to do something today
to brighten your way
