SOME FOLKS DO
The little black
dog runs into the box spring every night
To knock some covers on the floor to make her bed
Well the little black dog gets this look in her eyes sometimes
Like she can see people when they're dead
Yeah the little black dog gets fixated
By a tiny bug or a shiny spot on the wall
Yeah the little black dog knows what humans say
And she always has to tell the other dogs
She won't try
to steal your identity
No she won't tap your phone to spy on you
She won't tell you lies to win you over
Like some folks do
Now the multi-colored
dog believes she is a princess
But she leaves behind big piles of her own hair
She's kind of like a cross between a Barbie Doll
Or the Charlie Brown Pig Pen character
She's happiest when someone has a hand to lend
You could pet her almost every minute of the day
Unless she's got a toy she want's you to throw
Or she get's the zooms to burn some energy
Yeah the Multi-colored dog is a bit needy you see
She'd never go
to war in the name of oil
She'd never steal your pension funds from you
She'd never judge and damn you straight to hell
Like some folks do
Now the big black
dog is partly pit and partly lab
And I know it affects his brains chemisty
He's a guy so his favorite thing is eating
Or sniffing out a place to mark his territory
He's got this thing about following the ladies
Till they go insane or just run away
At least he is a lover not a fighter
And I'd trust him to keep an intruder at bay
He'd never cause incidents of genocide
He'd never give the fed complete control, it's true
He'd never give himself the power to declare martial law
Like some folks do
So that's the
story of the dogs we live with
They're special to us you can plainly see
They've got their own agendas and personalities
They're perfectly the way they ought to be
So I'm just going to love them all I can
And I believe they understand
That I am just a human with no hope to get it right
Maybe I'll just be a dog next time
