SURF UPON THE SAND

The energy of raging surf
meets with passive mother earth
sandy beach is washed into the sea
and still remains the sea contained
laughing at the birth
of the oneness of the seashore and the sea

This wedding day is our chosen way
to share the sound of the surf upon the sand
today's our day my love
to sail our hearts like kites above
like the spray that shines
from the surf upon the sand

I am the shore
you are the sea
shaping life for you and me

The ocean swells
to touch a sandy shore
the sand it shares a boundary
with the sea it holds
Mother earth slips into the sea
just the way your love has come to me
