FOND
FAREWELL
Dear
Mrs. Anne Larkin
We're all here to welcome you
to the other side of the working world
retirement is waiting for you
It was
1978, your first day on the job
Learning the tricks of the trade as a meter maid
Some folks said it was a nowhere job
There'd be no golden watch and fob
in honor of the full career you made
but you must have had the qualities
cause the bosses started noticing
as you moved up the chain of command
to supervise the underlings
and then to manage the whole darn thing
27 years we gotta give you a hand
We heard
about your exploits on the salty seas
and the time that you were shipwrecked near Belize
New Zealand was your favorite place
and it was written on your face
when you'd come back and tell us all the stories
What's the point of a boat on dry land
when you'd rather be upon the sea
than tanning in the sand
and the City of the Roses could never quite compare
with the ocean's depth and what you found out there
We'd
like to wish you a fond farewell
from the daily grind
and hope the future brings the best to you
But we know in our hearts
That you'll still see the cars
where parking enforcement is due
Hey, can't you read the sign, no parking anytime
this spot is for deliveries alone
Don't you see that fire hydrant right next to your car
This place could go up in smoke long before you're gone
This
is our fond farewell
We wish you all the best along the way
This is our fond farewell
Let's boot the Mayors car, have a little fun on your last day
Yeah, let's boot the mayors car, have a little fun on your last day
