SONG LYRICS
Listen to this song from Oregon Songwriter, Michael Frazier

Field of Faith

So many hours of practice, we've spent on the field
conditioning our bodies, adding weight to our build

Learning our positions, knowing well our part
combining our talents and playing with heart

A new year lies before us, we are prepared to play
To each opponent, be ready, to get out of our way

This season will be different, the first of its kind
without Mr. Curtis sitting on the sideline

He's home now in heaven watching us below
Such a man among men we were so blessed to know

Yes, we are fierce and focused we're ready to fight
Football season's here again our goal is in sight

We want number twenty, oh this is the year
another STATE title for the Patriots to cheer

But then out of the blue, the wind starts to blow
And the game with Utah, would be a no-show

Our families all pack up and heading different ways
Expecting to be back In just a few days

But little did we know, the big one had arrived
Everyone was thankful just to be alive

Katrina rolled in, leaving unspeakable strife
Changing us all in some ways for the rest of our lives

Our city was in shambles with water and debris
Destruction was everywhere as far as you could see

Our future was uncertain our lives put on hold
We watched and we waited to see what would unfold

We knew in our hearts, though we didn't understand
That God had a purpose, He had a master plan

Could we go back to school? Would Curtis still be there?
How bad was it damaged? Could it be somehow repaired?

News trickled slowly, the senior high school was fine
Mr. Curtis's crepe myrtle saved the lower school's roof line

Students were scattered throughout many states
Word was delivered, school would start, but be late

We yearned to be together, like the family we are
And vowed to get back there no matter how far

For once you have become part of the Patriot pride,
Nothing can replace what you feel deep inside

With our lives in turmoil and houses blown down,
One by one we came back to our school and our town

Day by day, slowly we pieced back our team
And learned to reach out,on each other we leaned

Days turned into weeks and our season's end came
We traveled to Shreveport for the final big game and

We knew in our hearts we were different, this team
We wore our red pants to honor Mr. Curtis's dream

We won number TWENTY it's special, that's true
Because of all we've learned and all that we've been through

Our faith has been deepened, we've become closer friends
The whirlwind called Katrina helped mold us into men

So thankful to God for His blessings are we
To be part of this team and the Curtis family

Yes, this season in time will not soon be forgot
Wherever life leads us, to far away places or not

We'll remember this year much more than others
We we started as teammates and wound up as brothers
