Field of Faith
Learning
our positions, knowing well our part A new
year lies before us, we are prepared to play This
season will be different, the first of its kind He's
home now in heaven watching us below Yes,
we are fierce and focused we're ready to fight We want
number twenty, oh this is the year But
then out of the blue, the wind starts to blow Our
families all pack up and heading different ways But
little did we know, the big one had arrived Katrina
rolled in, leaving unspeakable strife Our city
was in shambles with water and debris Our future
was uncertain our lives put on hold We knew
in our hearts, though we didn't understand Could
we go back to school? Would Curtis still be there?
News
trickled slowly, the senior high school was fine Students
were scattered throughout many states We yearned
to be together, like the family we are For
once you have become part of the Patriot pride, With
our lives in turmoil and houses blown down, Day
by day, slowly we pieced back our team Days
turned into weeks and our season's end came We knew
in our hearts we were different, this team We won
number TWENTY it's special, that's true Our
faith has been deepened, we've become closer friends So thankful
to God for His blessings are we Yes,
this season in time will not soon be forgot We'll
remember this year much more than others Lyrics writen by Rebecca S. Dufrene, Music by Michael Frazier © 2005 |
