Michael Frazier and Tim Korpita at Coopers Store in 1980
Tim Korpita and I parted ways in 1974, and I began doing solo performances and concentrating on songwriting. In 1979 we hooked up again, playing regularly at Cooper's Store in Independence, Oregon as the Skyler / Roache Band. We incorporated a few of my original songs into our sets. Both of us played acoustic guitars and I provided some flute embellishments on a few tunes. After a year or so, Tim moved on to "rockier" material with other friends. By this time I was convinced I could be a good songwriter and it was certainly in my blood.
David Craven at The Riverhouse 1981

Soon after, I hooked up with my good friends, David Craven (Stand Up Acoustic Bass) and Joe Evans (Acoustic Guitar) for some open mic nights at Busick Court, a few gigs at The Riverhouse in Pacific City, Oregon, including New Years Eve 1981, and a couple of spotlight appearances at the Salem Art Fair and Festival. We also played Cravens' own Festival of Friends and Dog Days. Numerous others popped in and out of this configuration for a few years as I continued to fill up pages in my songbook.
