On
November 4, 2006 about 10 a.m. my daughter gave birth to a beautiful
healthly baby girl. I was so blessed to witness the event and within
a short time I had given Emma her first birthday card, sang the
first song to her and told her the first joke. The picture to the
left was taken in the hospital lobby as her parents went to get
the car to take her home.
She
was surrounded by the love of her family and all of their friends
and continued to grow each day. She was a very gentle baby who only
fussed when she needed feeding or changing. She became more beautiful
everyday. She had the attention of everyone at the Family Thanksgiving
and Christmas gatherings, as well as other gatherings with friends
over the holiday season.
On
New Years Day, my daughter called and said that Emma had not woken
up that morning. My heart and soul exploded in pain for my daughter
and her husband at such a great loss. I have lost family and friends
before and nothing had prepared me for this kind of news. 58 days
was all she got. 58 days was all we got.
She
was taken to the hospital for an autopsy to determine the cause
of death and when the report came back, there was not one identified.
She will be added to the list of SID's deaths.
On
January 12, 2007 a memorial service was held to honor this wonderful
child. No one said goodbye. We all said see you later. We all know
she is in good hands. One of her grandmothers and one of her grandfathers
have already passed over. She had committed no sin and certainly
sits at the right hand of God.
With
our best selves we will always remember Emma Jean.
