Day
2 - 10/23 - 4.5 hours- - - - I began
sanding the myrtlewood sides both to smooth them and decrease their
thickness so they could later be bent to the proper shape. Once
I had these pieces worked to bending readiness I drew out the profile
and ran the top edge through the jointer. This assured that both
sides had the same straight edge from which to cut the flared edge
for the wider, lower bout. Next, I began working on sanding the
back pieces. Upon returning home, I continued to look at the catalogs
and on-line luthier sites for the various elements I would need
later on in the process. My head was full of ideas and I felt I
needed a complete design concept.
